Job summary

Carney, Sandoe & Associates is seeking a Spanish Teacher for Fall 2026 at a boys' boarding school in the Greater Asheville area.

Job description

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Spanish Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at a boarding school for boys in the Greater Asheville area.

Note: Boarding school positions may include on-campus housing and meals (room and board) depending on the role and school.

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:
  • Teach four Spanish courses per semester at various proficiency levels for upper school students.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
  • Teach Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
  • Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation.
  • Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
  • Assist with residential life duties as needed, fostering a safe and supportive living environment for students.
  • Assist with supervising extracurricular activities and/or coaching school athletic teams.
Spanish Teacher Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
  • 2-3 years of previous K-12 teaching experience preferred.
  • No teaching license or credential is required.
  • Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
  • Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.
  • Interest in educating, encouraging, and inspiring adolescent boys
Additional Desired Qualities:
  • Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
  • Ability to teach multiple languages preferred.
