Job summary

Carney, Sandoe & Associates is seeking an Upper School Spanish Teacher for Fall 2026 at a boarding school in Tyrone, PA. The role involves teaching multiple Spanish courses to students in grades 9–12 and supporting residential life as needed.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or related field, be fluent in Spanish, and demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills. A Master’s degree is preferred; housing and meals may be available at some schools.

• Organize events for students to showcase Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in professional development to stay current with best practices.
• Assist with residential life duties as needed.
• Assist with supervising extracurricular activities and/or coaching.

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach several Spanish courses per semester at various proficiency levels for students in grades 9-12.
• Develop engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
• Teach Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation.
• Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
• Assist with residential life duties as needed, fostering a safe and supportive living environment for students.
• Assist with supervising extracurricular activities and/or coaching school athletic teams.

Spanish Teacher Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish required.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
• Ability to teach multiple languages preferred.
