Job summary

ICA Language Services seeks an experienced Spanish language instructor to provide in-person instruction at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLIFLC) in Monterey, California. The role supports advanced-level government language training for post-DLPT/GRIT learners.

Responsibilities include delivering post-DLPT instruction, developing materials, administering weekly assessments, and integrating technology to support learning. Travel and lodging provided if needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of full-time experience teaching adult language learners in an intensive setting.
• Experience teaching post-DLPT or similar advanced-level language programs.
• Experience teaching U.S. military or government language learners.
• OPI minimum requirements: Spanish ILR 4 or ACTFL Superior; English ILR 2 or ACTFL Advanced Low.
• Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered language assessments.
• Working knowledge of ILR/ACTFL proficiency scales.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver Spanish post-DLPT/GRIT courses using varied instructional methodologies.
• Develop instructional materials and collaborate with the instructional team.
• Administer weekly quizzes, assessments, and evaluations to monitor learner progress.
• Provide mid-course progress reports and coordinate with supervisory staff to address instructional needs.
• Integrate instructional technology and online resources to support independent learning.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual learner needs, learning styles, and mission-related language requirements.
• Assign homework tailored to the students’ needs and reinforce daily learning.
• Provide exposure to idioms and language variants.
