Job summary

Nexus, a teammate company, seeks a Spacesuit Technologist to support the Orion Crew Survival Systems project for NASA. You will assist in understanding OCSS hardware, training events, and test support while communicating status to project management.

Responsibilities include setup of test equipment, participation in briefings, and collaboration with Suit Engineering Technologists to ensure compliance with NASA processes and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a HS diploma and 5 years of experience or BS in Engineering Technology or related field.
• Experience with reviewing and following requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria.
• Experience with the assembly, verification, testing, and operation of Space system hardware. Prior experience in pressure, oxygen systems, suit systems would be considered a plus.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field including interpreting engineering drawings and sketches, JSC Electronic Document System and software and tools.
• Ability to support long (all day) training events with long periods of time on feet and moderate lifting of hardware.
• Ability to physically meet the JSC Job Related Medical Physical Pressure Suit Technician/Hazardous Duty Launch and Landing Requirements.
• Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with NASA flight processes including Class I/II/III hardware.
• Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures

Responsibilities

• Understand OCSS hardware theory and operation.
• Understand cleaning requirements.
• Understand maintenance, handling and safety.
• Set up support equipment prior to Test.
• Assist Suit Engineering Technologists during Fitcheck and testing.
• Progress training to perform Fitchecks and Crew Training.
• Participate in pre/post event briefings.
• Support the Suit lab schedule.
• Assist with Suit Test Subject and Crew training.
• Understand Ground Support Hardware theory and operation; provide documentation.
• Support Testing of OCSS hardware.
• Assist in Calibration of Ground Service Equipment.
• Assist project management with Qualification testing and Pre-Delivery Testing.
• Work in a team environment and report status to management.
• Perform other duties as required.
