Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Product and Process Development Engineer to drive hardware from concept to production for New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launcher. You will design manufacturing plans, apply DFx to enable test, qualification, and flight hardware, and partner with design, build, and test teams to accelerate rocket development.

You will lead continuous improvement to reduce cost, improve safety and quality, and travel periodically to collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers.

Qualifications

  • BS degree or higher in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, process engineer, or related field.
  • 2+ years demonstrated ability as a Manufacturing/Materials/Process/engineer.
  • Experience with aerospace hardware, assembly, and manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining, forming, drilling and assembly of aerospace and high precision components.
  • Experience with large scale assemblies and fabrication.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Experience in product design or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with testing and qualification of hardware for flight applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level manufacturing plans covering fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Provide DFM/Producibility recommendations to design teams.
  • Develop prototype and qualification hardware and tooling for new or existing designs.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate manufacturing equipment and tools.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of hardware and equipment.
  • Identify and deploy new technologies to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Support hardware transition from development to production, including first article units.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, efficiency, and reduce defects.
