Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a capable materials engineering candidate to join a fast-paced spaceflight program in Washington. You will review production drawings, select materials, and optimize manufacturing processes for metallic and non-metallic hardware, collaborating with quality, design, structures, thermal, integration, and manufacturing teams.

Candidate should hold a B.S. in a related field and be able to start by Fall 2027, with preference for MS.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree or higher in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, polymer engineering, welding engineering, geology/geosciences and mining engineering or related field.
  • Will have earned their degree within the last year and able to start by Fall 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating as part of a hardworking team to address material challenges in various spaceflight systems.
  • Reviewing production drawings for large, complex assemblies to ensure optimal material selection and process implementation.
  • Developing, documenting, and optimizing manufacturing processes for both metallic and non-metallic hardware.
  • Selecting materials and defining design requirements to meet engineering, structural, and program goals.
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to optimize overall system design and performance.
