Job summary

Blue Origin in Denver, CO is seeking a Systems Engineer III to own mass properties for the Mk1 Transfer Stage, partnering with design, manufacturing, integration, and test teams to maintain CG, mass, and inertia data across the vehicle lifecycle. You will work with cross-functional teams to identify mass reduction opportunities, support trades, and report findings at design reviews and program milestones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years owning mass budget.
• Proficiency with CAD tools to interpret assemblies.
• Knowledge of CG, MOI, and mass margins.
• Python and/or MATLAB for data tracking and reporting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• B.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical Eng. required.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the MK1 Transfer Stage mass-properties model and keep data accurate.
• Support mass roll-ups and margin tracking against stage allocations.
• Reconcile predicted vs. measured mass properties and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist CG weighing operations planning and data analysis.
• Identify downstream consumers of mass properties data and delivery methods.
• Track propellant loading and burn-state mass properties across mission phases.
• Generate routine status reports for design reviews and milestones.
• Maintain configuration control of mass properties documentation.
• Document assumptions, threats, methods, and uncertainty in estimates.
• Own the Transfer Stage mass budget and allocations to subsystems.
• Champion minimum-mass solutions across subsystems and drive reductions.
• Lead mass trade studies with manufacturing balancing mass, cost, and producibility.
• Serve as responsible engineer for mass properties at gated reviews.
• Define the uncertainty and margin methodology and MGA policy.
