Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Systems Engineer II to support mass properties engineering for the Mk1 Lunar Cargo Lander. This role maintains and analyzes the mass-properties BOM, supports predictions and CG measurements.

You’ll collaborate with design, manufacturing, integration, and test teams to ensure mass, CG, and inertia are understood and reported at program milestones, and to drive mass reduction opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1–3 years of aerospace experience.
• Strong CAD tool proficiency and ability to interpret subsystem designs.
• Solid understanding of mass properties concepts (CG, MOI, margins).
• Comfort reviewing drawings/models and asking informed questions.
• Proficiency with Excel, Matlab, or Python for data tracking.
• Clear written and verbal communication for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the mass-properties BOM with accurate data across design maturation.
• Support mass property roll-ups and margin tracking against allocations.
• Assist in planning and executing vehicle CG measurements and data reduction.
• Reconcile predicted vs. measured mass properties and support root-cause investigations.
• Generate mass properties status reports and present findings at reviews and milestones.
• Coordinate with subsystem leads to collect updated weight and CG data.
• Identify opportunities for mass reduction across the vehicle in collaboration with teams.
• Support development and upkeep of mass properties tools and databases.
