Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking a Systems Engineer III to own the mass-properties model for the Mk1 Transfer Stage, maintaining mass, CG, and inertia data as design matures. You will work with design, manufacturing, integration, and test teams to drive mass reduction opportunities, perform margin tracking, and prepare reports for design reviews.

This role emphasizes collaboration across Fluids, Avionics, Thermal, GN&C, and Structures, with frequent opportunity to influence trades balancing

Qualifications

• 5+ years ownership of mass budget
• CAD tools: CATIA, NX, SolidWorks or Creo
• Understanding of CG, moments of inertia, and mass margin management
• Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data tracking and reporting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or related field

Responsibilities

• Maintain the mass-properties model for the Mk1 Transfer Stage and keep mass, CG, and inertia data accurate
• Support mass roll-ups and margin tracking against stage allocations
• Reconcile predicted vs. measured mass properties and investigate root causes
• Assist planning of CG and weighing operations across design and test phases
• Document assumptions, threats, methods, and uncertainty in mass estimates
• Lead mass trade studies with manufacturing balancing mass, cost, and producibility
