Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Systems Engineer II to own mass properties management for the Mk1 Lunar Cargo Lander. You will maintain the BOM, support CG measurements, and track mass throughout the vehicle lifecycle with design, manufacturing, and test teams.

You’ll drive cost–performance trades, identify mass-reduction opportunities, and document assumptions and uncertainties in mass property estimates, contributing to program milestones and vehicle success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 1–3 years of aerospace experience is preferred.
• Ability to navigate subsystem designs using CAD models and drawings.
• Strong mass properties knowledge: CG, inertia, margins.
• Proficiency with Excel, Matlab, or Python for data tracking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the mass-properties BOM with accurate data.
• Support mass property roll-ups and margin tracking.
• Plan and execute vehicle CG measurements and data reduction.
• Reconcile predicted vs. measured properties and investigate discrepancies.
• Generate status reports for design reviews and milestones.
• Coordinate with subsystem leads to collect updated weight and CG data.
• Identify, evaluate, and drive mass reduction opportunities across the vehicle.
• Champion minimum-mass design solutions in cross-functional design discussions.
• Analyze subsystem designs for mass growth risks and margins.
• Support mass trade studies with manufacturing on substitutions and simplifications.
• Develop and maintain mass properties tools and databases.
• Participate in vehicle weighing operations and data analysis.
