Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Structures Engineer – Level 2 or 3 for the East Engineering team. This position is 100% onsite and supports spacecraft structures, payloads, and antennas on complex systems, following a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience for Level 2 or 5 years for Level 3, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain government clearance. CREO CAD experience and travel (<10%) are required. On-site work is at Dulles or Colshire campuses, collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 0 years of professional experience (Level 2).
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 2 years of professional experience (Level 3).
• No clearance required to start.
• Ability to work on-site full time at the Dulles or Colshire campus.
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain government clearance.
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, preferably CREO.
• Ability to travel (<10%).
• Ability to perform structural engineering tasks associated with design, manufacturing, and testing of structures.

Responsibilities

• Work on all Spacecraft Structures, Payload, and Antenna mechanical hardware from requirements through integration and test.
• Perform detailed design tasks using CAD and other software to develop designs for manufacturing and assembly.
• Interfacing and communicating with customers, program and functional management, other spacecraft engineering disciplines, and component suppliers.
• Develop test plans and procedures and support structural testing at component and spacecraft levels.
• Self-motivated and provide technical solutions to a wide range of problems under general supervision.
