Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Structural Engineer (Level 2 or 3) to join the West Engineering Vehicle and Mechanical Engineering team in Gilbert, AZ. The role focuses on performing structural analyses for spacecraft systems and subsystems, with a 9/80 work schedule and every other Friday off.

The position requires a mechanical or aerospace engineering degree and experience with FE tools (NX FEMAP/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, HYPERMESH) and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2 years of experience, or Master’s/PhD.
• Ability to perform structural engineering tasks related to analysis, design, and testing of structures.
• Experience with mechanical analysis tools such as NX FEMAP/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or HYPERMESH.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build Finite Element Models to represent spacecraft or structural components.
• Perform static and dynamic structure analysis and test.
• Review requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.
• Select technical information and data from applicable products.
• Determine engineering principles and compute characteristics to meet space requirements.
• Release results as technical documents after senior review.
• Develop innovative solutions and design concepts.
• Evaluate designs with supervisors and modify as needed.
