Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Dulles, VA, is seeking a Mechanical Structures Engineer at Level 2 or 3 for the Space Sector. This full-time, onsite role follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, requiring US citizenship and ability to obtain government clearance. You’ll design and integrate spacecraft structures, interfaces with multiple teams, and support testing and manufacturing documentation.

The position emphasizes CAD proficiency (CREO), GD&T, and hands-on hardware experience, with travel < 10%. A strong background in design for manufacturing and materials is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires CAD experience and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with creating manufacturing documentation.
• Ability to travel and work on-site at Dulles or Colshire campus.

Responsibilities

• Work on Spacecraft Structures, Payload, and Antenna mechanical hardware from requirements through integration and test.
• Perform detailed design tasks using CAD and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Interfacing with customers, program and functional management, other spacecraft disciplines, and suppliers.
• Develop test plans and support structural testing at the component and spacecraft levels.
• Be self-motivated and provide technical solutions under general supervision.
