We are seeking an experienced structural analyst to perform FEA and hand calculations for orbital vehicle structures, collaborate with design engineers to optimize weight and strength, and document analyses for engineering releases.

This role supports a mission to develop reusable, safe space vehicles with a culture of safety and inclusion.

Qualifications

  • BS in engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil).
  • 3+ years experience in vehicle structures or mechanisms analysis.
  • Familiarity with classical strength analysis methods (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, Shigley).
  • Ability to derive load cases from free-body diagrams.
  • Experience with FEM packages (ABAQUS or HyperWorks).
  • Knowledge of FEM modeling techniques (boundary conditions, bolts, contact, verification).
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculations for strength checks of orbital vehicle structures and mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to optimize structural designs for weight, strength, and manufacturability.
  • Document structural analysis to support the release of engineering drawings and formal documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance on design concepts, balancing risk, cost, and performance.
  • Maintain and report on activity schedule, budget, and technical status.
  • Support other teams and team members with inputs for configuration development and trade studies.
