Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Sector is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer – Level 2 or 3, onsite in Dulles or McLean, VA, to join an experienced team of mechanical engineers working on spacecraft systems.

Responsibilities include static and dynamic structure analysis, reviewing requirements, selecting technical data, and releasing technical documents. Candidates should have a STEM degree, 2+ years of experience or a Master’s, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Onsite schedule applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM—Mechanical Engineering or related field, structural analysis preferred.
• 2+ years of experience OR a Master’s Degree.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Experience with structural analysis tools such as NX FEMAP/NASTRAN, ABAQUS, HYPERMESH.

Responsibilities

• Perform static and dynamic structure analysis.
• Review requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.
• Select technical information and data from applicable products.
• Determine design principles and compute engineering characteristics for space applications.
• Release results as technical documents after review by senior engineers.
• Develop innovative solutions and refine design concepts.
• Evaluate designs with supervisors and other teams and modify as needed.
