Space Dynamics Laboratory seeks an experienced structural analysis engineer to support the design, development, and qualification of spacecraft and optical payloads. You will focus on finite element analysis, structural dynamics, margins of safety, and environmental testing.

Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams is essential, with minimal CAD production duties. The role involves reviewing designs, developing models, and delivering technically sound analyses through PDR/CDR and integration

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field
• Five or more years of relevant structural analysis experience
• Proficiency with finite element analysis software and model development
• Experience with static structural analysis and structural dynamics
• Ability to calculate structural margins of safety and verify results
• Experience supporting structural/environmental testing
• Clear communication across engineering disciplines
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD security clearance
• Willingness to travel regularly and support off-site work as needed

Responsabilidades

• Performs static, quasi-static, modal, random-vibration and other structural analyses of spacecraft and components
• Develops, validates, and interprets finite element models with realistic loads and boundary conditions
• Calculates and documents structural margins of safety for strength, stiffness, and fatigue
• Reviews 3D designs and drawings for structural adequacy and interfaces
• Prepares structural analyses, verification plans, reports, and presentation materials
• Supports test predictions and evaluates test results to correlate with models
• Collaborates with labs, fabrication, procurement and program management for hardware delivery
• Mentors or reviews work of other engineers as appropriate to experience level
