Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking aMechanical Engineer specializing in spacecraft structural analysis. You will create finite element models, run static and quasi-static analyses in FEMAP and NASTRAN, and derive failure modes with margins of safety.

The role collaborates across disciplines to support architecture concepts, trade studies, and static qualification testing while addressing material and failure review boards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field, required.
• MS degree preferred for senior-level position.
• Minimum 7 years hands-on spacecraft structural analysis.
• FEMAP and NASTRAN expertise and best practices.
• Experience with composite space structures.
• Ability to identify critical loads for CLA.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis of space vehicles and calculate margins of safety.
• Build finite element models and run static and quasi-static analyses.
• Translate loads into static qualification testing for assemblies.
• Support architecture evaluation and lead trade studies.
• Dispose non-conformance issues as needed.
• Participate in material and failure review boards.
