Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a mechanical engineer with deep experience in structural analysis of spacecraft. You will build finite element models and run FEMAP/NASTRAN analyses for static and quasi-static load cases, evaluating margins of safety across composite and metallic structures.

The role requires leading trade studies, supporting architecture evaluation, and participating in failure review boards. Domestic and international travel are required; U.S.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is required.
• MS degree preferred for senior-level position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis of space vehicles, define failure cases, and calculate margins of safety.
• Build finite element models and run static and quasi-static analysis for composites and metallic structures.
• Translate load states into static qualification testing of actual structural assemblies.
• Support architecture concept evaluation and lead trade studies.
• Disposition non-conformance issues.
• Participate in material and failure review boards.
