Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a mechanical engineer experienced in structural analysis of spacecraft. You will build finite element models in FEMAP and run static and quasi-static analyses for both composite and metallic structures, defining failure cases and calculating margins of safety.

The role requires 7+ years of hands-on experience with spacecraft analysis, experience in composite space structures, and the ability to identify critical loads for CLA. International travel is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field is required.
• MS degree preferred for senior level position.

Responsibilities

• Conduct structural analysis of space vehicles, define failure cases, and calculate margins of safety.
• Build finite element models and run static and quasi-static analysis for composite and metallic structures.
• Translate load states into static qualification testing of actual structural assemblies.
• Support architecture concept evaluation and lead trade studies.
• Disposition non-conformance issues.
• Participate in material and failure review boards.
