Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mid-level Materials & Processes Engineer to join our team in Houston, supporting NASA spaceflight programs. The role focuses on materials selection, process control, corrosion prevention, electrical bonding, flammability, and toxic offgassing for IVA and EVA environments.

The position requires a BS in Engineering and 2–5 years of related experience, with opportunities to lead verification plans, coordinate with program boards, and work on spaceflight hardware development

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2-5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge in materials and processes for space applications, including testing.
  • Familiar with metallic and nonmetallic materials specifications and properties.
  • Effective written and verbal communication across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Advise, guide, and provide consultation on Materials & Processes for IVA and EVA environments.
  • Review hardware, analyses, hazard reviews, verification, and flight acceptance testing.
  • Formulate presentations and present to program boards as appropriate.
  • Implement M&P requirements into hardware designs and verification plans.
  • Provide input to specifications and ensure M&P requirements are incorporated.
  • Review project documentation to ensure M&P requirements are met for spaceflight hardware.
  • Assess vendor processes and define necessary changes.
  • Provide inspection and manufacturing support for human space flight systems.
  • Other duties as required.
