Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Ground Software Intern to help enable efficient command, telemetry, and control of spacecraft. You will collaborate with flight software engineers, GNC, and mission operators to automate workflows, build intuitive UIs, and develop reliable backend services.

The internship runs for 12 weeks (May/June to Aug/Sept 2027) and is on-site in Redondo Beach, CA, with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Experience building and shipping software projects using Python and/or JavaScript (React or Vue.js preferred).
• Ability to understand complex system interactions and communicate technical tradeoffs effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement full-stack web applications using modern frameworks.
• Build software tools and APIs to support mission automation, ground testing, and telemetry processing.
• Write robust, maintainable, and tested code that operators and engineers rely on during critical mission phases.
