Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking an Avionics Test Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Redondo Beach. You will assist in testing and integrating spacecraft avionics, gaining hands-on experience across flight hardware, electronics, and test systems.

The internship runs 12 weeks from May/June through August/September 2027 and includes exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and test equipment. You will develop, run, and improve test systems to ensure hardware readiness for spaceflight, collaborate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Strong foundation in circuits, electronics, or software.
• Hands-on project, research, or lab experience with hardware integration or testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end test systems validating flight electrical hardware (boards, optics, electromechanical assemblies).
• Support setup, operation, and troubleshooting of electrical test equipment and ground support hardware.
• Develop automated testing solutions to collect, analyze, and document test data.
• Build and maintain test systems, racks, and setups for component and integrated testbeds under engineer supervision.
• Collaborate with avionics, propulsion, GNC, software, and integration engineers to verify test coverage.
• Contribute to pre-launch test activities and learn how spacecraft are prepared for flight.
