Job summary

Varda Space Industries, Inc. in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Firmware Engineer for the Flight Software team to define how our spacecraft behaves in orbit and to build reliable software for embedded processors.

You will own all phases of development—from requirements through test and flight operations—and write C++ across bare metal, RTOS, and Linux environments to control the spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering or equivalent technical experience in safety critical software.
• 3+ years of experience in the development of spacecraft or similar safety critical software.
• Experience developing and testing real-time embedded hardware / software systems.
• Experience with C++, and strong understanding of language concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop reliable firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule.
• Own all aspects of software development from design to integration.
• Scope projects with requirements capture and design trades.
• Write bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
• Ensure software quality through test, verification, and validation.
