Job summary

Rincon Research Corporation seeks an Advanced Software Engineer in Chantilly, VA to join a multi-disciplinary team. You will contribute to end-to-end software for orbit determination and constellation management, from architecture through deployment.

The role blends hands-on coding with senior technical leadership, shaping software across the lifecycle to deliver mission-ready capabilities. Required background includes strong C/C++ skills, Linux proficiency, and experience with Python,

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field
• Significant programming expertise with C and/or C++
• Significant experience with Linux
• Experience with Python, Shell Scripting, etc.
• Experience with Git or other revision control systems
• Knowledge of software design principles including industry best practices
• Ability to communicate software and algorithm design, complexity analysis, and performance metrics
• Ability to quickly grasp and come up-to-speed with large software code bases
• Experience developing and deploying scientific applications in a cloud native environment

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and develop computer software systems in conjunction with hardware product development
• Design and develop software products for a variety of applications
• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle: requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing
• Apply CS, engineering, and mathematical analysis to software for the target application
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to develop interfaces between hardware and software
• Develop software test procedures, programs, and related documentation
• Communicate changes to practices, processes, and approaches
• Improve processes, systems, or products significantly
• Contribute inputs to new products/processes and implement impactful plans
• Stay current with latest technologies and apply improvements across the mission lifecycle
