Job summary

KBR, Inc. is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our MILSATCOM-focused team in El Segundo, CA. The position requires the ability to obtain a Secret clearance and entails working with a multidisciplinary SE&I group in a highly collaborative environment.

You will engage with government civilians, prime contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure Space Flight Worthiness and safety documentation, analyses, and certifications are completed accurately.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required for this position.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 4+ years’ experience in systems engineering.
• 1+ years’ experience in Systems Safety engineering and related standards.
• Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; public speaking ability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate ESOH risks identified by government, contractors, or stakeholders; support Space Flight Worthiness certification.
• Document and implement changes to Government System Safety documents.
• Review contractor documentation for hazard analyses, mitigation, and safety assessments with the government team.
• Perform safety risk assessments per MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance; prepare risk assessments for acceptance or mitigation.
• Prepare PESHE, SDAR/EOLP, and Environmental Analysis for space vehicles and ground systems.
• Prepare and support System Safety elements of Space Flight Worthiness certification.
• Collaborate with prime contractors, other contractors, government civilians, and U.S. Space Force.
