Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking a Production Planner II to manage production orders, schedules, and material readiness in Sterling/Chantilly, VA. You will coordinate with Operations Program Managers, Material Planners, Buyers, and Manufacturing to ensure timely releases and accurate shop-floor execution.

Ideal candidates bring 2–4 years in scheduling or material control, strong Excel skills, and experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field.
2–4 years in production scheduling, production planning, material control, inventory control, or related supply chain role.
Experience using ERP, MRP, or production control systems to create, schedule, release, or maintain production orders.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, with the ability to analyze schedules and material readiness information.
Ability to identify material shortages and communicate schedule risks clearly.

Responsibilities

Create, schedule, and release production orders to the manufacturing floor in alignment with guidance and priorities.
Release production orders at least 14 days in advance of planned start date where practical.
Coordinate with Operations Program Managers to confirm work-release priorities and timing.
Maintain accurate production order dates, status, routing, and material requirements in ERP/MRP systems.
Identify shortages or constraints that may impact production start dates and escalate as needed.
Coordinate with Material Planning and Program Material Planning to align release and material readiness with priorities.
Communicate material shortages and schedule risks to stakeholders before impact.
Prepare and maintain rolling dispatch lists and production schedules for leadership.
Assist in prioritizing inventory transfer and material movement for production use.
Monitor schedule adherence and provide constraint reporting for reviews.
Identify opportunities to improve scheduling, release discipline, and material execution processes.
Execute work according to procedures, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
Travel or off-site work as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
