Job summary

Trident Systems in Sterling, VA (with location in Chantilly) seeks a Production Planner II to manage production orders and scheduling to support DoD/space programs. This role partners with the Materials Manager and program teams to ensure material readiness and on-time delivery.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in production planning, strong Excel skills, and proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, including Dynamics. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 2–4 years in production scheduling or planning.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong Excel skills and data analysis.
• Excellent cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Create, schedule, and release production orders to the manufacturing floor.
• Release production orders 14 days in advance when practical.
• Coordinate with Operations Program Managers on priorities and timing.
• Maintain accurate production order dates, status, and routing in ERP/MRP.
• Review material availability and identify shortages or constraints.
• Align with Material Planning and Program Material Planning on releases.
• Communicate shortages and schedule risks to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with Material Handlers on pick lists and staging.
• Prepare rolling dispatch lists and production schedules.
• Prioritize inventory transfers to storage or production locations.
