Job summary

Trident Systems in Sterling, VA / Chantilly, VA, seeks a Production Planner II to create, schedule, release, and maintain production orders to support manufacturing execution and program delivery requirements.

The role collaborates with Materials, Operations Program Managers, Buyers, QA, and Engineering, using ERP/MRP systems to ensure material readiness, accurate timelines, and on-time performance in a fast-paced aerospace environment. Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM/Operations/Engineering/Business or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in production scheduling, planning, material control or related area.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems to create, schedule, release, or maintain production orders.
• Strong Excel and MS Office skills with data analysis ability.
• Clear communication and organizational abilities.
• Understanding of material readiness and scheduling constraints.

Responsibilities

• Create, schedule, and release production orders to the manufacturing floor in alignment with priorities and material availability.
• Release production orders at least 14 days in advance of planned start date when practical.
• Coordinate with Operations Program Managers on work-release priorities and timing.
• Maintain accurate production order dates, status, routing, and material requirements in ERP/MRP.
• Review material availability, shortages, and constraints that may impact start dates.
• Communicate shortages and risks to stakeholders before they impact execution.
• Prepare rolling dispatch lists, schedules, and work order visibility for leadership.
• Support site-level production control and schedule discipline.
• Prioritize transfer of inventory to storage, staging, or production-use locations.
• Identify opportunities to improve scheduling, kitting, staging, and material execution.
