Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Internship Program seeks a Guidance, Navigation and Control engineer to work in Dulles, VA.

You will design and test attitude control loops, develop simulation models, and implement GNC algorithms in flight software, with opportunities to focus on analysis or components.

Preferred candidates are pursuing Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, with MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++ skills, and a drive to innovate.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering.
• Majoring in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks in summer 2027.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and tune attitude and position control loops.
• Design and tune Kalman filters for attitude determination.
• Analyze and test the GNC subsystem performance using simulations.
• Implement GNC algorithms in flight software and support testing.
• Develop models for sensors, actuators, system dynamics, and space environment.
