Job summary

Northrop Grumman invites students to join the Space Systems intern program as a Spacecraft GNC Engineer. Located in Dulles, VA, you’ll contribute to attitude control solutions for DoD, NASA, and commercial customers.

You will work within the GNC subsystem team on analysis or component focus, with opportunities to design and test controllers, filters, and integration with flight software for space missions.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree and graduating after Fall 2027.
• Majoring in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks in summer 2027.
• Able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and tune spacecraft attitude and position control loops.
• Design, analyze, and tune Kalman filters for attitude determination and navigation.
• Analyze and test GNC subsystem performance using simulations and analytic tools.
• Implement GNC algorithms in flight software and support testing.
• Develop simulation models for sensors, actuators, system dynamics, and space environment.
