Job summary

Vast is seeking a Thermal Fluids Design Reliability Engineer to guide the design, verification, and validation of Haven‑1 and related systems for sustained human presence in space. This full‑time, exempt role is based in Long Beach and reports to the Sr.

Manager of Design Reliability. The engineer will lead design reviews, set design criteria, and ensure compliance with flight and ground support requirements while working with cross‑functional teams to maintain safety, schedule, and performance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 6+ years of related professional work experience in engineering, design ownership, or reliability‑focused development.

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews and ensure flight hardware design maturity and test campaigns.
• Architect and enforce design standards for thermal fluids, life support, and environmental control.
• Own design review templates, reliability checklists, and internal design guides.
• Coordinate change management to ensure intentional, reviewed flight hardware updates.
• Drive risk assessment, FMEA, and traceability across systems.
• Provide peer review and ensure compliance with design criteria for flight and ground support.
