Vast is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Thermal Control Systems, to design, build, and test thermal control hardware for Haven Station in Long Beach, CA. This full-time exempt role requires hands-on engineering across heat exchangers, cold plates, heaters, and heat pipes within a fast-paced space program.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering or related field.
• 2+ years designing mechanical components or systems.
• 3D CAD and FEA proficiency.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5 experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of thermal control systems and components for our space station hardware.
• Lead thermal and fluid analyses to drive design decisions and margins.
• Perform systems engineering for hardware including requirements, interfaces, and verification by test or analysis.
• Lead development and qualification testing and iterate designs and manufacturing processes.
• Own the delivery timeline from early design through production, launch, and orbit insertion.
• Lead internal design reviews and supplier/customer reviews.
• Collaborate with avionics, software, and mission operations teams for system integration.
• Ensure manufacturability and reliability with fabricators and suppliers.
