Job summary

Vast is building next generation space stations from Long Beach, CA. The Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Subassemblies, will drive the development and execution of human-rated vehicle processes as Haven-1 transitions from design to flight readiness.

This full-time role is based in Long Beach, CA and requires hands-on fabrication and cross-functional collaboration to ensure quality and cost efficiency. The position supports manufacturability, process optimization, and detailed assembly

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing or electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Manufacturing experience across multiple work centers and/or departments, with hardware in design, manufacturing, or test.
• 2-4+ years of experience for Manufacturing Engineer II
• 4-6+ years of experience for Senior Manufacturing Engineer
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and/or integration; CAD proficiency (NX preferred)

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design teams to assess manufacturability of subassemblies
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes and onboard equipment
• Create and maintain detailed manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions
• Identify and resolve manufacturing challenges via root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Collaborate with QA to establish rigorous quality control processes
• Drive continuous improvement to boost efficiency and reduce waste
