Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced space safety analyst to develop and maintain MMOD and debris models, assess collision risk, and support regulatory submissions. You will build tools in MATLAB/Python and collaborate across propulsion, power, and GNC teams to inform design decisions.

The role emphasizes hands-on modeling, documentation of methodologies, and integration with broader system architectures in a fast-paced environment at our spaceflight programs.

Qualifications

• Hands-on modeling and analysis experience in orbital debris or related fields.
• Experience with regulatory submissions and cross-team communication.
• Ability to document methodology, assumptions, and results clearly.
• Strong collaboration in fast-paced engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, own, and maintain MMOD environment and impact models.
• Develop demise and re-entry survivability models and assess ground risk.
• Create collision probability models for full constellation scale.
• Build validated, version-controlled analytical tools in MATLAB/Python.
• Perform MMOD-driven failure mode analyses on critical systems.
• Support debris mitigation plan adherence with regulatory inputs.
• Integrate space safety models with broader system models.
• Conduct trade studies on constellation design choices and debris impact.
• Develop space traffic density and long-term debris models.
• Collaborate with spacecraft, propulsion, power, thermal, GNC teams.
