Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to join the Safety, Quality and Mission Assurance organization. You will work with systems engineering teams to define and verify safety and reliability requirements for space vehicles and in-space systems.

You will lead hazard analyses, identify risk controls, and mentor engineers across programs, helping to improve safety practices and ensure mission success. This role requires travel up to 20% and relocation support.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of System Safety or Systems Engineering experience performing requirements definition, traceability, decomposition, integration, verification, and validation.
• Experience performing safety analyses on safety-critical systems including FTA, PHA, FHA, Hazard Reports, FMECA, reliability analysis, and mitigation plans.
• Ability to lead and coordinate safety analysis products across stakeholders and engineering disciplines.
• Strong safety and mission assurance fundamentals.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead engineering activities including FTA, PHA, FHA, Hazard Reports, FMECA, reliability analysis, and mitigation plans.
• Develop plans and coordinate safety analyses for system and subsystem levels, providing guidance and reviews.
• Ensure traceability between system/subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers across programs.
• Collaborate across systems to share best practices and improve processes.
