Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking a System Safety Engineer to lead safety analyses on space vehicles and in-space systems. You will work with systems engineering teams to define and verify safety requirements, identify opportunities for design improvements, and mitigate risks to mission success.

The role requires 7+ years in system safety or engineering, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate across stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of System Safety or Systems Engineering experience.
• Experience performing safety analyses on safety-critical systems (FTA, PHA, FHA, FMECA).
• Ability to lead safety analyses across stakeholders and engineering disciplines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead safety analyses including FTA, PHA, FHA, FMECA and reliability assessments.
• Develop and coordinate system and subsystem safety analyses and mitigation plans.
• Ensure traceability between functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Mentor engineers and share best practices across programs.
