Job summary

Astrolab is seeking motivated individuals to join our Software Engineering team in Hawthorne, CA. You will help design, develop, and maintain software for the FLEX rover, collaborating across disciplines to ensure robust performance in extreme environments.

Ideal candidates are pursuing or have completed a STEM degree and have hands-on experience with C++/Python and engineering software. Interns may receive relocation support and benefit from a collaborative, space-focused team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related STEM field
• 3+ months of engineering experience outside of the classroom, including research, project teams, personal projects, internships, or prior work experience
• Experience with a general-purpose programming language such as C++, Python, or similar
• Experience developing or testing software for engineering applications, such as robotics, rockets, electric vehicles, UAVs, or similar systems

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining vehicle, ground, and test software for the FLEX rover
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, and avionics engineers to ensure integrated solutions
• Participate in software testing and debugging for reliability in extreme environments
• Contribute to tools and scripts for data analysis and mission simulation
• Engage in code reviews and contribute to software documentation
• Stay updated with robotics, software engineering, and space exploration advancements
