Job summary

Astrolab is seeking a Rover Control Systems Engineer to support development of control systems for extra-terrestrial rovers, including mobility and robotic arm control, with initial simulations and design work.

Responsibilities include defining requirements, designing and tuning controllers, building system simulations in Matlab/Simulink and Python, and integrating prototypes into flight software. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
• 5+ years of robotics control system development.
• Experience building, testing, and validating control system simulations and analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Define control system requirements from vehicle-level specs.
• Design, develop, tune, verify, and validate vehicle control systems.
• Build simulations for controller design and tuning in Matlab/Simulink and Python.
• Prototype controllers to meet requirements using control design tools.
• Assist in selecting sensors, actuators, and related hardware.
• Analyze and tune controller performance and robustness.
• Document control system work and translate prototypes to flight code.
