Job summary

Astrolab is seeking a Rover Control Systems Engineer to support development of control systems for extra-terrestrial rovers, including mobility and robotic arm control, with initial simulations and design work.

Responsibilities include defining requirements, designing and tuning controllers, building system simulations in Matlab/Simulink and Python, and integrating prototypes into flight software. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
5+ years of robotics control system development.
Experience building, testing, and validating control system simulations and analysis tools.

Responsibilities

Define control system requirements from vehicle-level specs.
Design, develop, tune, verify, and validate vehicle control systems.
Build simulations for controller design and tuning in Matlab/Simulink and Python.
Prototype controllers to meet requirements using control design tools.
Assist in selecting sensors, actuators, and related hardware.
Analyze and tune controller performance and robustness.
Document control system work and translate prototypes to flight code.
