Job summary

GITAI in Torrance, CA is hiring a Mechanical Engineer, Space Robotics to own end-to-end mechanical hardware development for robotic spacecraft systems, including arms, bus structures, and solar mechanisms. This role spans concept design, CAD, prototyping, assembly, integration, verification, and early manufacturing support.

You will work closely with electrical and software teams to define interfaces, assemble prototypes, and drive testing to improve performance, reliability, and serviceability;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 1+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and supporting electro‑mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD.
• Experience creating mechanical drawings and drawing packages.
• Hands‑on assembly, integration, and testing experience.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds; travel up to 50% to test sites.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and iterate mechanical hardware across robotic, spacecraft, satellite, and propulsion systems.
• Define requirements and interfaces with electrical and software engineers for practical build and integration.
• Assemble, integrate, and maintain prototypes; feed insights back to improve buildability and serviceability.
• Plan and execute testing for reliability and quality; use results to drive design improvements.
