Job summary

Busek is seeking multiple Mechanical Engineers to support design, analysis, and sustainment of space propulsion systems and spacecraft hardware in Natick, MA. Roles span mechanical design, thruster design, and structural analysis, with focus on SolidWorks-based design, and sustaining engineering.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • Experience in mechanical design and/or structural analysis, ideally in aerospace/defense/high-tech.
  • Proficiency with sustaining engineering and modifications to in-progress or flight hardware.
  • SolidWorks experience including drawings, modeling, and manufacturability.
  • Experience using FEA tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) for structural/thermal analysis.
  • Familiarity with aerospace hardware considerations and vacuum compatibility.
  • Experience with NCRs and ECOs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for propulsion systems and spacecraft hardware using SolidWorks.
  • Support thruster mechanical design including housings, mounts, interfaces, and structural components.
  • Perform structural and thermal analyses (static, dynamic, vibration, launch loads) for hardware.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, GD&T, and documentation for manufacturing and inspection.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support including design refinements and issue resolution.
  • Support environmental testing activities such as vibration and thermal vacuum.
  • Conduct trade studies to optimize mass, strength, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to integrate designs.
  • Support prototype fabrication, assembly, and test with hands-on troubleshooting.
  • Work with vendors and aerospace machine shops to source/manufacture components.
  • Support NCRs, ECOs, root cause investigations, and corrective actions.
