Job summary

Benchmark Space Systems, a leader in small satellite propulsion, seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop propulsion components from concept to hardware delivery. You’ll work with an interdisciplinary team to improve existing systems, perform mechanical analyses, and produce production-ready prints and models in an on-site role at our Burlington, VT headquarters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional mechanical design experience in aerospace.
• U.S. Person required; export controls apply; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs from concept through production.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate electronics and telemetry.
• Validate designs with analysis and testing.
• Coordinate with fluid systems for components like valves and regulators.
• Support assembly, integration, and test.
• Source components and manage manufacturing for custom designs.
• Contribute to requirements, design reviews, and BOMs.
• Track mechanical requirements with other disciplines and support documentation.
• Support customer-facing reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Promote cross-discipline collaboration among mechanical, analysis, electrical, and software teams.
