Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector seeks an eCad Electrical Engineer (Level 3/4) to lead PCB layout for spaceflight hardware in Dulles, VA. The role is 100% onsite, focusing on board-level layout, HDI, and controlled impedance designs in collaboration with electrical and mechanical engineers.

You will apply NASA-STD-8739 and IPC standards, produce Gerber/ODB++ files, and drive design reviews while ensuring SI/PI integrity on high‑reliability boards. Level 3 or 4 options, no telecommuting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of PCB layout experience or higher
• Master’s degree with 3 years or PhD with 0 years
• Experience with Cadence Allegro PCB Designer in aerospace/high‑reliability environments
• Experience creating and managing ECAD libraries (symbols/footprints)
• Demonstrated expertise in multilayer board layout with SI/PI in mind
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Leadership in layout design for flight boards or mission‑critical systems
• Experience with IPC CID or CID+ certification or training

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end PCB layout process using Cadence Allegro PCB Designer
• Develop multilayer, high-density interconnect (HDI) layouts for space environments
• Create and maintain PCB symbols, footprints, and padstacks
• Ensure layouts meet electrical, mechanical, and thermal constraints
• Implement high-speed routing, diff pairs, length tuning, EMI/EMC practices
• Support RF and mixed-signal layout requirements and controlled impedance traces
• Generate fabrication and assembly files and participate in design reviews
• Apply NASA-STD-8739 and IPC 2221/2222 standards
• Participate in DFM/DFX reviews with manufacturing partners
• Collaborate to define constraints and placement strategies
• Drive quality via ECAD checklists and layout optimization
