Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal PCB Layout Designer to join the Woodland Hills, CA team.

You will own complex PCB layouts from concept to data release, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, high-reliability circuit card assemblies for aerospace and defense applications. Qualifications include a degree in engineering with multiple years in aerospace, TS/SCI eligibility, Cadence Allegro experience, and strong IPC/MIL standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5 years of aerospace or related experience; or Master’s with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• On-site full-time at Woodland Hills, CA.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering/layout of PCBs using Cadence Allegro or equivalent.
• Experience with multi-layer, high-density PCBs including placement and routing of high-speed digital, RF, and mixed-signal circuits.
• Familiarity with IPC and MIL-STD high-reliability criteria.
• Experience generating artwork and PCB/CCA documentation for procurement/assembly.

Responsibilities

• Execute placement and routing of complex, high-density PCBs including high-speed digital, RF, mixed-signal, and power circuits.
• Interpret schematics, constraints, and mechanical boundaries to develop optimized PCB layouts meeting performance and manufacturability.
• Generate and maintain PCB/CCA fabrication and assembly documentation packages.
• Apply IPC and high-reliability criteria in design and verification of PCBs/CCAs.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and signal integrity engineers on layout challenges.
• Lead DFM/ DFA/ DFT reviews to improve yield and test coverage.
• Work with suppliers to incorporate manufacturing capabilities into PCB designs.
• Mentor junior/layout designers and provide technical guidance.
• Lead advanced PCB layout using HDI, microvias, via-in-pad, backdrilling.
