Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal PCB Layout Design Engineer for Woodland Hills, CA. The role focuses on designing high‑reliability circuit card assemblies for aerospace and defense, collaborating across electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and signal integrity teams.

The position requires on‑site work, with responsibilities ranging from placement and routing of complex PCBs to IPC compliance and fabrication documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5+ years in aerospace or related field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
• On-site in Woodland Hills, CA full-time.
• Experience in multi-layer high-density PCB layouts.
• Proficiency with Cadence Allegro or equivalent.
• Experience with IPC standards and high-reliability criteria.

Responsibilities

• Execute placement and routing of complex, high-density PCBs including high-speed circuits.
• Interpret schematics and constraints to develop optimized layouts.
• Generate PCB and CCA documentation for procurement and assembly.
• Apply IPC and high-reliability criteria to design and verification.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and test teams to address layout challenges.
• Support DFM/DFA/DFT reviews to improve yield and robustness.
• Work with fabrication suppliers to incorporate manufacturing capabilities.
• Manage PCB library data per internal workflows.
• Lead layout tasks from concept through data release for program cost and schedule.
• Lead advanced layout efforts using HDI, microvias, via-in-pad, backdrilling.
