Job summary

Yoh, a Day & Zimmermann company, seeks a contract Optical Technician to support the integration and testing of optical payloads for the Pelican satellite program. This role focuses on the tactical execution of telescope and camera assembly, alignment, and characterization in a cleanroom environment.

You will work with engineering teams to ensure flight-ready optics, maintain test fixtures, and meticulously document results to support design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Payload integration and assembly of telescopes and focal plane arrays with precision bonding.
• Optical characterization of cameras and telescopes for image quality and metrics.
• Use metrology equipment (interferometers, wavefront sensors, collimators, integrating spheres).
• Build and maintain opto-mechanical and electrical test fixtures.
• Record test results and summarize data for engineering review in Jira or in-house software.
• Handle, measure, and clean sensitive optical components in cleanroom procedures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Test Engineers to troubleshoot failures.
