Job summary

Voyager Space is seeking an Optical Engineering Technician to provide hands-on support for design, assembly, alignment, test and integration of electro‑optic and photonic systems in a defense/aerospace setting. 6+ years of technician experience in optics or photonics preferred.

Responsibilities include assembling optical components, testing performance, and documenting results, with strict adherence to MIL-STD-810 and ISO standards in a cleanroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with optical alignment techniques and interferometric testing.
• Strong bench skills in precision optical assembly.
• Familiarity with cleanroom practices and ISO Class 5-7 environments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align precision optical components per drawings and procedures.
• Integrate electro-optical subassemblies into sensor or imaging systems.
• Perform fiber optic splicing, connector termination, and cable routing.
• Install and align laser systems, detectors and opto-mechanical hardware.
• Execute optical tests (MTF, wavefront, transmittance, focal length).
• Document results and flag non-conformances; support corrective actions.
