Vast seeks a Principal Strategic Sourcing professional to report to the Senior Director of Supply Chain in Long Beach, CA. You will own high-impact sourcing strategies, lead major supplier negotiations, and drive cost, schedule, and risk reductions across aerospace programs.

This full-time, exempt role requires independent decision-making in a fast-paced NPI environment, with travel up to 20% and a focus on cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Legal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in aerospace/defense or high-complexity manufacturing.
• Proven cost, schedule, and risk reductions on high-spend categories.
• Experience negotiating long-term agreements with executive-level suppliers.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and ITAR/EAR in sourcing and supplier management.
• Demonstrated mentoring or coaching of colleagues.
• Strong cross-functional influence with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance and Legal.

Responsabilités

• Own category strategies for critical hardware balancing cost, speed, quality, and risk.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing events, negotiating long-term agreements and capacity commitments.
• Build should-cost and TCO models including tooling, NRE, and yield.
• Partner with Engineering on make-vs-buy, design-to-cost, and manufacturability decisions.
• Develop new suppliers to reduce single-source risk and increase capacity.
• Ensure flow-downs meet ITAR/EAR, AS9100, and customer requirements.
• Mentor sourcing teams and help scale playbooks and tools.
