Job summary

Vast is seeking a Principal Strategic Sourcing Manager in Long Beach to lead high-impact sourcing strategies for human-rated space systems. You will own category strategies, negotiate long-term agreements, and mentor a team across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Legal.

The role requires 7+ years in strategic sourcing in aerospace or high-complexity manufacturing, with AS9100 and ITAR/EAR knowledge. California-based, full-time exempt position with strong compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain in aerospace or high-complexity manufacturing
• Proven record of cost, schedule, and risk reductions on high-spend categories
• Advanced negotiation with executive-level suppliers
• Strong analytical skills including spend analysis, TCO, and should-cost modeling
• Experience drafting long-term supplier agreements and terms
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and ITAR/EAR in sourcing

Responsibilities

• Own category strategies for critical hardware balancing cost, speed, quality, and risk
• Lead sourcing events end to end including long-term agreements and capacity planning
• Build should-cost and total-cost-of-ownership models covering tooling and NRE
• Collaborate with Engineering on make-vs-buy, design-to-cost, and manufacturability
• Identify and develop new suppliers to reduce single-source risk
• Ensure ITAR/EAR compliance in sourcing and contracts
• Mentor sourcing teams and build scalable playbooks
