Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Modeling & Simulation Software Architect (Engineering Specialist - Systems Software Engineering) to lead complex modeling, analysis, and visualization of satellite systems and trade-spaces. You’ll mentor staff and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver production-grade software solutions for government and commercial customers.

Based in Chantilly, VA, Colorado Springs, CO, or El Segundo, CA, this 100% onsite role requires deep technical leadership,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related STEM majors.
6+ years of related and progressive experience in modeling and simulation.
Proficiency in C++, including design, development, and testing production-level software.
Experience in modern software development, integration, and testing practices.
Proven ability to serve as a technical lead for a software project team.
Experience with software configuration management and collaboration tools (Bitbucket, Jira, GitHub, or similar).
Mentoring and training emerging software developers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Strong communication skills in technical writing and presentations to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

Provide deep technical expertise and leadership on modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities across multi-disciplinary teams.
Lead customer engagement efforts on modeling and simulation workflows with government customers.
Serve as main contact for major department-level technical efforts for Aerospace Program Offices and external customers.
Mentor junior staff within focus areas.
Develop briefs and reports communicating software progress and design solutions to technical leads and customers.
Manage development and maintenance of one or more M&S tools and workflows.
Engage with users to refine capability requirements.
Conduct software architecture design and integrate new workflows to meet needs.
Travel as necessary <10%.
