Job summary

MITRE in Chantilly, VA seeks a Space Modeling & Simulation Analyst to lead advanced analytical work across defense and public-sector programs. You will develop high-fidelity models of space systems, run simulations, and provide decision-support to sponsors while ensuring security and mission alignment.

The role requires 8+ years of related experience with advanced degrees or equivalent, active TS/SCI clearance, and the ability to work onsite 4 days a week.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• U.S. citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance; ability to obtain and maintain additional accesses as required.
• Experience applying modeling and simulation, operations research, systems engineering, or statistical analysis to national security, defense, intelligence, or space missions.
• Experience developing, executing, validating, and documenting analytical models, simulations, or decision-support tools for complex systems.
• Experience developing and presenting analytical findings, technical briefings, white papers, and recommendations for senior technical and executive stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple analytic efforts, and independently drive work from problem definition through decision support.
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytical and mathematical techniques to inform policy and acquisition decisions for operational effectiveness.
• Develop high-fidelity models of space systems to predict performance and mission outcomes.
• Build and run simulations to evaluate concepts and architectures before hardware is designed or launched.
• Analyze large volumes of simulation output to identify vulnerabilities and recommended changes.
• Model space environment effects and assess their impact over mission life cycles.
• Support mission planning by simulating timelines, tasking strategies, and contingencies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure models are accurate and aligned with needs and security requirements.
